Overcome Depression

Any one of us can suffer from depression at any point in our lives. Depression can affect you physically causing insomnia, eating issues and a sense of lethargy and fatigue. It affects your ability to focus your thoughts, making it difficult to complete day to day tasks, and can also impact on your memory and judgement.

Modern lives are becoming more stressful, with factors such as a high divorce rate, rising bills and job insecurity. There are more and more issues that can lead to despair, frustration, anxiety and a sense of hopelessness. Of course not everyone who experiences these pressures will become depressed. Depression, however, is increasing in all age groups. Women are twice as likely to become depressed as men and depression is particularly increasing in young teenagers. Depression is more prevalent amongst those who have grown up with a parent suffering from depression.

Depression is often misunderstood by well meaning friends and relatives who may tell you to “Pull yourself together” or ‘just get on with it.” They do not appreciate that a person suffering from depression feels unable to do so, and their comments often only serve to make the depressed person feel guilty about their condition.

There are other treatment areas to explore 

Depression can have underlying medical and psychological causes and these may need to be investigated before you seek hypnotherapy. You may need other forms of treatment. Medication, despite having side effects, can provide relief and in some instances is necessary. You should be aware that there are other treatment areas to explore.  

Break out of the cycle of negative thinking

Hypnotherapy can help you to break out of the cycle of negative thinking associated with depression that can leave you feeling trapped and helpless. Often with depression you are ruminating on the same worries and negative thoughts over and over again. By thinking in a different way you may be able to achieve a different, and much better, result. With the help of hypnotherapy everyone is capable of thinking differently, in order to effect a change.
