Modern hypnotherapy is an extremely effective and versatile way of dealing with a wide range of issues and ailments from anxiety and depression to stress and phobias. Hypnosis can also successfully treat addictions including smoking and offers lifelong health and confidence benefits through weight control.
Any problem you present we will work with you to resolve it. As well as offering these services Q Hypnotherapy also offers hypnosis for childbirth, which has been shown to dramatically improve the birth experience for mothers to be, and hypnotherapy for IBS and psoriasis.
Hypnosis is a process that is used to allow access to the subconscious mind. Our patterns of behaviour are created by our life experiences and are based on associations we have between our thoughts and our emotions. Hypnosis allows you to recognise the automatic subconscious associations that you are making and to work with your subconscious to make changes where necessary.
Q Hypnotherapy makes effective use of analytical hypnotherapy which is the method used to discover the sensitising event that is at the root of a psychological problem. The sensitising event is the cause of the problem and it is usually an emotional event that occurred in your childhood. Before the age of 11 we have no critical factor which means that we interpret everything that is said to us literally.
We live out that role, script or attribution throughout our lifetime as a self-fulfilling prophecy. When we experience a trauma, or sensitising event, the critical factor we have developed as an adult is temporarily blown aside and the non-analytical mind forms a thought or emotion that then dominates a person’s life.
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.”

Conscious awareness does not effect therapeutic change
In effect this means that although you are aware that you need to change it does not mean that you are able to affect change in yourself. For example consider a client who suffers panic attacks about travelling on a train. The client’s conscious mind knows that the client is perfectly safe but the sub-conscious mind is generating fear. This is because the subconscious mind believes for whatever reason that there is danger.
Where the subconscious and the conscious mind compete the subconscious mind always wins. The client therefore finds it extremely difficult to go against that subconscious belief.
Using hypnotherapy the client could affect changes in their sub-conscious thinking to bring it in line with the conscious mind and change their life forever.
“ To a mind that is still the whole universe surrenders” Chuang-tzu
Much can be learned through hypnosis. The more you involve yourself in understanding your thoughts, emotions and actions, the greater your understanding of your experiences will be. With this understanding comes a greater sense of wellbeing, peace and unity in yourself.
